Selective Islam ~ An article by Imran Khan (1998)

Nov 1st, 2011 | By | Category: Latest, Pakistan, Religion

My Generation grew up at a time when colonial hang up was at its peak. Our older generation had been slaves and had a huge inferiority complex of the British. The school I went to was similar to all elite schools in Pakistan, despite becoming independent, they were, and still are, producing replicas of public school boys rather than Pakistanis. I read Shakespeare which was fine, but no Allama Iqbal.

The Islamic class was not considered to be serious, and when I left the school I was considered amongst the elite of the country because I could speak English and wore western clothes. Despite periodically shouting Pakistan Zindabad at school functions, I considered my own culture backward and Islam an outdated religion. Amongst our group if any one talked about religion, prayed or kept a beard he was immediately branded a Mullah. Because of the power of the Western media, all our heroes were western movie or pop stars. When I went to Oxford already burdened with this hang up from my school days, things didn’t get any easier. In University not just Islam but all religions were considered anachronism. Science had replaced religion and if something couldn’t be logically proved it did not exist. All supernatural stuff was confined to themovies. Philosophers like Darwin who with his half-baked theory of evolution was supposed to have disproved the creation of men and hence religion.

Moreover, the European history had an awful experience with religion, The horrors committed by the Christian clergy in the name of God during the Inquisition had left a powerful impact on the western mind.

To understand why the west is so keen on secularism, one should go to places like Cordoba in Spain and see torture apparatus used during Spanish Inquisition. Also the persecution of scientists as heretics by the clergy and convinced the Europeans that all religions are regressive. However, the biggest factor that drove people like me away from religion was the selective Islam practised by most of its preachers. In other words, there was a huge difference between what they practised and what they preached. Also, rather than explaining the philosophy behind the religion, there was an over emphasis on rituals. I feel that humans are different; to animals whereas the latter can be drilled, humans need to be intellectually convinced. That is why the Qur’an constantly appeals to reason. The worst of course, was the exploitation of Islam for political gains by various individuals or groups. Hence, it was a miracle I did not become an atheist.

The only reason why I did not was the powerful religious influence wielded by my mother on me since my childhood. It was not so much out of conviction but love for her that I stayed a Muslim. However, my Islam was selective, i.e. I accepted only parts of the religion that suited me. Prayers were restricted to Eid days and occasionally on Fridays, when my father insisted on taking me with him. If there was a God I was not sure about it and certainly felt that he did not interfere with my life. All in all I was smoothly moving to becoming a Pukka Brown Sahib. After all I had the right credentials in terms of the right school, university and above all, acceptability in the English aristocracy, something that our brown sahibs would give their lives for. So what led me to do a lota on the Brown Sahib culture and instead become a desi? Well it did not just happen overnight. Firstly, the inferiority complex that my generation had inherited, gradually went as I developed into a world class athlete. Secondly, I had the unique position of living between two cultures. I began to see the advantages and the disadvantages of both the societies. In western societies, institutions were strong while they were collapsing in our country. However, there was an area where we were and still are superior, and that is our family life. I used to notice the loneliness of the old-age pensioners at Hove Cricket ground (during my Sussex years). Imagine sending your parents to Old Peoples’ Homes! Even the children there never had the sort of love and warmth that we grew up with here. They completely miss out on the security blanket that a joint family system provides. However, began to realise that the biggest loss to the western society and that in trying to free itself from the oppression of the clergy, they had removed both God and religion from their lives. While science can answer a lot of questions, no matter how much it progresses, two questions it will never be able to answer: One, what is the purpose of the existence and two, what happens to us when we die? It is this vacuum that I felt created the materialistic and the hedonistic culture. If this is the only life then one must make hay while the sun shines and in order to do so one needs money. Such a culture is bound to cause psychological problems in a human being, as there is going to be an imbalance between the body and the soul. Consequently, in the USA, which has shown the greatest materialistic progress and also gives its citizens the greatest human rights, almost 60 per cent of the population consult psychiatrists. Yet, amazingly in modern psychology, there is no study of the human soul. Sweden and Switzerland, who provide the most welfare to their citizens, also have the highest suicide rates; hence, man is not necessarily content with material well being he needs something more. Since all morality has it roots in religion, once religion was removed, immorality has progressively escalated since the 70’s. The direct impact of it is on thefamily life. In UK, the divorce rate is 60 per cent, while it is estimated that there are over 35 per cent single mothers. The crime rate is rising in almost all western societies, but the most disturbing fact is the alarming increase in racism. While science always tries to prove the inequality of man (recent survey showing the American Black to be genetically less intelligent than whites) it is only religion which preaches the equality of man. Between ’91 and ’97, it was estimated that total immigration into Europe was around 520,000, and there were racially motivated attacks all over, especially in Britain, France and Germany. In Pakistan during the Afghan war, we had over four million refugees, and despite the people being so much poorer here and in the NWFP, they suffered a considerable loss in their standard of living as a result of the refugees yet, there was no racial tension, No wonder, last year in Britain, religious education was reintroduced into schools.

There was a sequence of events in the 80’s that moved me towards God. As the Quran says: “There are signs for people of understanding”. One of them was cricket. As I was a student of the game, the more I understood the game, the more I began to realize that what I considered to be chance was, in fact, the will of Allah, the pattern which became clearer with time. But it was not until Salman Rushdie’s Satanic Verses that my understanding of Islam began to develop. People like me who were living in the western world bore the brunt of anti-Islam prejudice that followed the Muslim reaction to the book. We were left with two choices: fight or flight. Since I felt strongly that the attacks on Islam were unfair, I decided to fight.

It was then I realised that I was not equipped to do so as my knowledge of Islam was inadequate. Hence I started my research and for me a period of my greatest enlightenment. I read scholars like Ali Shariati, Mohammad Asad, Iqbal, Gai Eaton, plus of course, a study of the Holy Quran.

I will try to explain as concisely as is possible, what “discovering the truth” meant for me. When the believers are addressed in the Quran, it always says, “Those who believe and do good deeds.”

In other words, a Muslim has dual function, one towards God and the other towards fellow human beings. The greatest impact of believing in God for me, meant that I lost all fear of human beings. The Quran liberates man from man when it says that life anddeath and respect and humiliation are God’s jurisdiction, so we do not have to bow before other human beings. As Iqbal puts it:

Wo aik Sajda jisay tu giran samajhta hai,

Hazaar sajdon say deta hai aadmi ko nijaat.

Moreover, since this is a transitory world where we prepare for the eternal one, I broke out of the self-imposed prisons, such as growing old (such a curse in the western world, as a result of which, plastic surgeons are having a field day), materialism, ego, what people say and so on. It is important to note that one does not eliminate the earthly desires, simply that instead of being controlled by them, one controls them.

By following the second part of believing in Islam, I have become a better human being. Rather than being self-centred and living for the self, I feel that because the Almighty gave so much to me, in turn I must use that blessing to help the less privileged. By following the fundamentals of Islam rather than becoming a Kalashnikov-wielding fanatic I have become a tolerant and a giving human being who feels compassion for the under-privileged.

Instead of attributing success to myself, I know it is because of God’s will, hence humility instead of arrogance. Also, instead of the snobbish Brown Sahib attitude towards our masses, I believe in egalitarianism and strongly feel against the injustice done to the weak in our society according to the Quran, “Oppression is worse than killing.” In fact only now do I understand the true meaning of Islam, if you submit to the will of Allah, you have inner peace. Through my faith, I have discovered strength within me that I never knew existed and that has released my potential in life: My educationprogramme that I intend to announce in March is far more ambitious than the cancer hospital project.

I feel that in Pakistan we have selective Islam. Just believing in God and going through the rituals is not enough one also has to be a good human being. I feel there are certain western countries with far more Islamic traits than us, especially in the way they protect the rights of their citizens, or for that matter their justice system. In fact some of the finest individuals I know live there. What I dislike about them is their double-standards in the way they protect the rights of their citizens and yet considercitizens of other countries as being somehow inferior to them as human being, e.g. dumping toxic waste in the Third World, advertising cigarettes that are not allowed in the west and selling drugs that are banned in the west. One of the problems facingPakistan is the polarisation of two reactionary groups. On the one side is the westernised group that looks upon Islam through western eyes and has inadequate knowledge about the subject. It reacts to any one trying to impose Islam in the society and wants only a selective part of the religion. On the other extreme is the group that reacts to this westernised elite and in trying to become a defender of the faith, takes up such intolerant and self-righteous attitudes that are repugnant to the spirit of Islam.

What needs to be done is to somehow start a dialogue between the two extremes. In order for this to happen, the group on whom the greatest proportion of our educational resources are spent in this country must study Islam properly. Whether they become practising Muslims or believe in God is entirely a ;personal choice; as the Quran tells us that there is “no compulsion in religion.” However, they must arm themselves with knowledge as a weapon to fight extremism. Turning up their noses at extremism is not going to solve the problem.

The Quran calls Muslims “the middle nation”, i.e. not of extremes. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) was told to simply give the message and not worry whether people converted or not, therefore, there is no question in Islam of forcing your opinions on any one else. Moreover, we are told to respect other religions, their places of worship and their prophets. It should be noted that no Muslim missionaries or armies never went to Malaysia or Indonesia. The people converted to Islam due to the high principles and impeccable character of the Muslim traders. At the moment, the worst advertisement for Islam are the Muslim countries with their selective Islam, especially where thereligion is used to deprive people of their rights. In fact, a society that obeys fundamentals of Islam has to be a liberal one.

If our westernised class started to study Islam, not only will it be able to help our society fight sectarianism and extremism, but it will also make them realise what a progressive religion Islam is. They will also be able to help the western world by articulating Islamic concepts. Last year, Prince Charles accepted that the western world can learn from Islam during his speech at the Oxford Union. But how can this happen if the group that is in to best position to project Islam gets its attitudes from the west and considers Islam backward? Islam is a universal religion and that is why our Prophet (PBUH) was called a mercy for all mankind.

  1. A very well written article by the man of character. Shows the deep thinking of the man, a true patriot and above all a true Muslim.

  2. wE wANT iMRAN kHAN tO bE tHE NEXT pRIME mINISTER oF pAKISTAN

  3. Khan Sahab, you’re doing a marvellous job, I hope you’re elected Prime Minister so we can rid ourselves of these problems, I would definitely vote for you If I was of age.
    Rock On, We love you!

  4. How well Rumi described ”Two reeds drink from one stream, one is hollow, the other sugar-cane.” Today when we look deep into the wide political arena we find ourselves surrounded by mass of bigots and in this dim fading light we come across a person who does not have myopic vision. Then why must we become blind
and follow those IDIOTS who have given us nothing but deep sorrow. Together we can help Imran Khan to create a society of equals.

  5. Rather a young photo Mr Khan..! But a thought-provoking
article. Islam is an intellectual faith and is an education in itself. It could do so much for Pakistan, if the country properly embraced it. Tell us more about your education project.

  6. I am curious to know on the educational plan… I hope it is not like one of those fundamental ones and tries to explore Islam from different perspectives just as you did while studying for your understanding.

  7. A feeling one gets upon hearing the words oneself failed to voice……this is what i am experiencing! Those who have or had an experience of living in both eastern and western societies and have an insight to compare the two not only on the materialistic but moral and ethical grounds guarded by religious background would second every word Imran Khan has uttered.
If i were to have some kind of say, this article would be in the text books of our youngster who have been sadly deprived of the social and ethical values of family life which once was our pride! and who are like the lost cows who have no sense of direction as they act like a total coconut, as expressed by Mr Khan.
Bravo Imran Khan for not only sharing your thoughts but also giving a vent to all those who have no talent with the words!

  8. The thoughts Mr. Khan has shared with us are true depiction of Holy Quran’s message to its believers that they should enter into Islam completely. They should not practice some of its parts and leave others. Quran also announces huge difficulties for people adopting partial practicing of its teachings. Having said that its always hopeful to see Mr. Khan as a man with a plan. I sincerely hope that his education programme that he intends to start in March will be able to deliver complete picture of Islam to students of our nation. It shall be a big step towards positively changing our society Inshallah.
Lots of good luck and prayers for Mr. Imran khan.

  9. These are the true preachings of Islam, our youth need to follow. Islam is a complete and universal religion, it is not for people of Arabian peninsula or for older people. Islam is for every one and gets complete guidance for us from cradle to grave. Well said Imran Khan.

  10. Hats of to you!! May Allah help you in your campaign.. Mr. Khan is serving as a beacon of hope for Pakistan:)

  11. I had recently given up hope regarding the future of Pakistan. It has been a traumatic heartbreak and I felt it couldn’t be mended. Your convictions in the face of so much despair and debasement are making my hair rise on end. People talk of no one man being able to lead a nation out of the abyss we’re crawling into but an ideology can… Fighting alone against our own people to make them give up the distorted and disgusting face of Islam they potray is not possible for long but together, who knows. Japan raised itself from the ashes of two atomic explosions and their take-over did not consist of bloodshed and hatred. We treat our women like property and our children as unpaid laborers and sex slaves. We lynch unresisting boys to death and escape justice. Our govt officials openly use national wealth for personal purposes and enter into agreements that bind us more strongly into slavery. Our elders die waiting in line for pensions and Imran bhai I wish we had old homes so their lives and dignity was not stripped inside the walls of the hes they themselves built for their children.
I am a doctor by profession. I have domestic responsibilities but I would like to offer my help in ways it will be possible for me. Karachi bled and I died so I don’t know what a dead person can do but hey, isn’t everyone here dead inside?

  12. If Imran khan was a rational thinking person he would realize that religion doesn’t make sense. One doesn’t need to be a genius to figure out that the facts simply don’t add up. If Islam is holy and from the Almighty creator, then why did it allow slavery, sex slavery. Its also claims to respect all human equally yet its incredibly sexist. Men are are allowed to marry 4 women at a time while women are portrayed into second class citizen who are not smart or strong enough.

  13. The article really shooks the reader down his soul and urges him to look inside for once and discover what has he become. I truly believe that Imran Khan can be trusted to the full for transforming the status quo … But what needs to be done before hand is to stand up yourself as well.

  14. People who are well versed with Western life style know how bleak their systems are. Although, the brutal clutches of Western Imperialism were buried decades ago but still they have put up variuous institutes in the form of IMF, World bank, MNC’s to make third world countries dependent on their alms. It is our duty to portray the teaching of Islam the way it was taught by Prophet Mohammad (Sallalahu Alaihe Wasalam). This time we are banking our hopes on Imran Khan, expecting a concrete change in the political, social and economic condition of Pakistanis….

  15. Well, I think this is best thing I love in him,,,,, He’s neither secular nor an Extremist …….
May Allah, bestows him with a historical success in the form of betterment of my country, and may Allah bestows us with more leaders like him.

    Aameen !

  16. Its a good article by Imran Khan as it addresses some fundamental issues of so called conflict between Westernization and Islam.I want to reply to Mr. Ahmed Y H.. Mr Ahmed lets suppose that Islam is sexiest than what about favorite of many, WESTERN societies who even with open sex could not fulfill their desire of sex from opposite sex so they are now trying to do it with HOMOSEXUALITY….!!!

  17. true …well articulated..being humane is very impt….

  18. One of the best articles I have read so far. Imran Khan has every potential to be the leader of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. May become the Jinnah saani.

  19. Speak a new language
    so that the world
    will be a new world.

A very apt saying for our times by Rumi. It’s time for a new Pakistan.

  20. This article shows me that on the day of Qayamat, not only those people with great rituals and beards will be on highest places but people like Imran Khan will also be at highest ranks as they think of other people.

A great salute to Imran Khan mother, the reason for which IK is Imran Khan today.

Wish and Pray about the success of IK in every world.

  21. Fortunately, IMRAN KHAN cannot be an elected Prime Minister of Pakistan but he is the ‘SELECTED’ by GOD. I believe he is the chosen one and it would be great blessing of GOD to us.

  22. BISMILLAH IRREHMAN NIRRAHEEM ,

A very thought provoking and timely written article for the divided Muslim Ummah. I just wonder sometimes that if only Imran Khan was born in America, then he would have been the most famous person among the masses as he still would have done everything he did in our country.

He’s something more than an ANGEL and i am really impressed by him. I SALUTE him and i PRAY for him. May ALLAH ALMIGHTY always be with him. Ameen.

  23. Imran Khan will be our Next Prime Minister Insha’Allah =)

  24. Where on earth does Islam allow sex slavery? It actually abolished it from the Jahillya period before Islam’s advent. the Holy Prophet (SAW) himself married a slave-girl, thus setting her free of her bondage.
And for the love of God, EVERY Muslim man is NOT meant to marry four women at a go. Islam does not order him to do so, it is not enforced on him. Following the Prophet’s (SAW) example, if a married man can not find a better alternative to provide say, a newly widowed woman or divorcee who may approach him for help, or may be approached by her well-wishers for her help, than marry her himself and provide her with financial and social security equal to that of his current wife, he is not doing a bad deed. It is much better than taking advantage of her situation. Ofcourse, nowadays that very woman may be educated enough to stand on her own two feet and make a living for herself, unlike most women of the early days of Islam when the principle (not rule, mind) was made.
And if men nowadays are taking, and through the ages have taken, advantage of this principle to suit their own base needs and marrying as many women as they like and not meeting the needs of any one of them, it is not Islam’s fault.
When have women even been second class citizens according to Islam? Compared to the ‘sex slavery’ of the Jahillya period, Islam has given women rights like no religion before it. Please don’t confuse the practices of your Muslim contemporaries to the true principles of Islam. Generalized statements without any factual references and context of those references are simply a waste of your breath and our time.

As far as the acceptance of homosexuality in the West is concerned, it is the affair of the individual and not something one can use in a generalized way to point fingers at the West for. The west has plenty of faults, but homosexuality is the last thing we should be bothered about in relation to the west’s relationship with us.

  25. IMRAN KHAN ZINDABAD!

  26. Good thoughts. The Peace and Prosperity is not possible in Pakistan with out following the Golden Rules to Rule a Nation that are provided us by our Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) and by the great Khaliphs like Hazrat Abu Bakar (R.A), Hazrat Umar (R.A), Hazrat Usman (R.A) and Hazrat Ali (R.A). Only If Imran Khan will implement those Rules he can change the Destiny of Pakistan by the Grace of Allah other wise it is impossible to change the current situation.

  27. I absolutely applaud your effort and achievement in understanding the true essence of Islam without becoming an extremist or too liberal. I am very glad that someone has brought to light this problem with selective islam, and the impact it is having on different groups of people/youth in this country! I for one understand why one would easily loose their faith and turn into an atheist. Unfortunately my experience with people who are considered religious has been a bad one, as I have seen a congested, narrow minded approach on one side, and overly relaxed on the other.
Mr. Imran, not only is Islamiat considered a joke in highschool and University, but the teachers of these subjects have a horrible and narrow minded approach to the subject. I am a Bachelors level student, in my first year we studied Islamiat as a compulsory course subject. My teacher for that subject, a bearded maulvi, a phD in Islamiat studies, was horrible at teaching, he was blatantly biased against girls, he used to literally tell us in EVERY class ‘Aurat jahanami hai, aurat ko siraf ghar mey rehna chaiye, aurat ki waja say banday ghalat rastay pay jatay hain, aurat bohat gharab hai’ and that man himself had studied abroad in a Co-education environment. Now this maulana teacher made Islamiat classes so unbearable for all the 40 girls in my class. I remember coming home in tears and telling my mother that I want to renounce Islam if this is what it really is about. I think if it weren’t for my own mother’s beliefs, guidance and understanding of religion, I would pretty much be a westernized girl with utter hatred towards Islamic teachings. What I want to say is, if you even read this comment, is that in your education policy concerning religious studies, please please encourage the production of teachers who have a balanced understanding of Islam, and not be hell bent on extremism or are anti-female. Another thing I have noted in Islamiat teachers is how badly they deal with the issue of different sects. Instead of educating students to be patient and tolerant of different races or even islamic sects, these people create rifts. And it is because of this reason that these ‘Sunni’ muslims are discriminatory towards Shia’s, and murderous towards Ahemidi’s. Our current youth believes that if a person isnt Sunni, they arent Muslim, they not only emotionally torture students from other sects, but threaten them. I am already alarmed that our youth is supportive of Salman Taseer’s MURDERER! They have forgotten that forgiveness is more important than killing another person. Pakistan is on a road to destruction, only because the previous and new generation is lacking tolerance, and has tunnel vision. So I implore you, my vote is with you, but with this education policy, please bring about a change in this nation’s teachers as well!

  28. The feelings Imran Khan shared with the viewers about Islam during his early life are infact the feelings of masses, specially the educated youth and middle aged Non Arab muslims of indo-pak subcontinent. It doesn’t have something very new. However, after reading this article many people will definitly dig deeper to understand and experience what he had already experienced. The reason behind is the weightage of his words and his honest personality. Vote for Imran Khan ………

  29. […] […]

  30. Imran Khan,

This article showed me your deep critical and analytical thinking and if you think like this, then you can certainly identify whats at stake, If you can identify , then you can resolve. For the first time I seriously consider you to be the change that this nation so needs. Not your profile, not your jalsa and speeches ( which anyone could do) but your inner ideology and sensibleness is what would resonate with the masses.

Good luck…. for us as well.

    Asim,

    Toronto

  31. Time for the “burgers & sandwiches class” and “talibans” to settle on Islam by understanding the worthy Holy Quran!

  32. Shot in the air “Ahmed Y H” n well replied Khaled.

  33. I like each word of this article..good thoughts..

  34. 1. Yes, now i am fully convinced that Imran khan can lead us on the glorious path of success. Sincerity alone, in a leader, cannot bring about success. It is the sort of ‘vision’ blended with sincerity and conviction that imran has epitomized in this article.
    2. Imran khan’s is the middle way which is the scarcest thing in this land of the pure. And IK has come at the conclusion in a very liberal environment, not the one which we pakis has imposed on our offspring from the very beginning or blindly followed by ourselves in a closed and confused society.
    3. A humble and passionate request of our educational policymakers that please make this type of literature part of our school and college curriculum. Inserting this one of IK directly will not be a bad taste. For God sake, spare our syllabuses of two-nations theory and ideology of pakistan further which everyone knows has not worked.

  35. standing in your age and in western world i loved to read your blog…..it is reality

  36. Very thought provoking article. As far as I am concerned since the creation of Pakistan we are confused that either it is an Islamic state or state for Muslims to live their life. Muhammad Ali Jinnah wants a state for Muslims where other minorities group can live freely. Jinnah was reluctant till 1940 to use the religious card, but due to Nehru he used it. Raja of Ahmadabad also mentioned this point in his writing. After creation the ruling party leaders were secular minded but due the pressure of Madodi they pass the objective resolution. After that all military ruler and political leaders used religion for their political gain. Muslims in Pakistan wants a state for Muslims that’s why Islamist party due to their vast social work never able to get majority in parliament. People in Pakistan are very emotional about religion in Pakistan. We have are confused due to these leaders and Imran Khan got his education in western culture but support Islamist party in Pakistan. Why???? If you want Pakistan an Islamic state then why your policies don’t reflect it. What I want from Imran khan is to clearly announce that that kind of state he wants as India proudly project itself largest secular democracy in the world.

  37. Imran, may the force be with you! God bless you and protect you

  38. I would have respected Mr. Khan for his point of view had it not been for his science bashing. Science has allowed him to post this on the internet and let millions read it. Science will cure him when he gets old and frail and further extend his life. A man who does not understand simple science or even respect its integrity should never be allowed to become PM.

  39. A good article, though I must disagree with Imran Khan’s belief that the US “gives its citizens the greatest human rights”

  40. This article by Mr. Khan, should open the eyes of the majority of people. I loved the way he portrayed, how still many of the people in Pakistan and I think in India have had a sense of inferiority complex when faced to westerners. The rescue is simple, take pride in your own selves and in your country. The confidence will flow from within 🙂

    Best Regards,
    AK

  41. very thought provoking article by the friend of qazi and Gen. hamid gull, the two massive killers. Let he be the PM to play his part in serving military establishment. alas you fool nation!!!!

  42. i think imran khan is the perfect expeirience for youth like me who study in the universities as mentioned in the article and have become brown sahibs. our traditional mullahs have failed to provide intelectual reasoning to our educated youth as a result confusion is increasing day by day, also keeping in mind this educated youth is the only part of our society that can interact with outside world in an effective way. i think its Allah’s will to guide the young generation through men like IK. youth fancy him due to his achievements and his approach towards Islam is truely a blessing. i consider this article a ray of hope…carry on ..Imran Khan

  43. This man has really researched and understood the root of the problem. Since the disease is diagnosed, therefore a ray of hope is seen. He deserves a chance to lead Pakistani Nation at least once.

  44. Very well expailend, Khan Saheb. May Allah keep you on the right path when you have the power to control the country! Try to make “Selective” and “Extreme” followers of Islam read this article with an open mind. See if you can use you name and fame to get this article in the western media.

  45. Sir you have removed my very few doubts about what you think about Islam and religion through this article.
    hats off.

  46. While the journey Mr. khan went through to reach to a point of enlightenment is very familiar to his generation, and his faith and love of God and religion is very apparent; I do not agree with some of his solutions to the problems.

One is, his emphasis on study of Islam. Are you kidding me? We have 72 sects. Which sect should we start with? Which interpretation should we follow? If he uses this approach he will be so lost in trying to reach a solution that he will have no time to do any thing else with his life.

Islam is simply a set of principles, justice, equality, etc. etc. These principles when applied by any society brings improvements to the living of all; whether you are religious or atheist. By the way, these principles are not unique to Islam, they are in every religion. Humans are born with the awareness of good and bad, just and unjust. God through Quran, Islam, and other religions has merely confirmed of what is already within us.

I do not like his comparison of Western and Eastern societies as well. Seems like he is still trying to get over the inferiority complex. We are no superior to them either. There are good and bad in every society as there is in every man. There is a lot good brought to this world through America and Europe. We do not need to see them as foes or competitors in order to show loyalty to our religion or our country. We need to embrace all the good where ever it is. That is Islam to me. Giving people their dues in recognition is also justice, and hence Islam.

We need to work with each other, not only in our country, but globally. We need to have the right attitude, love for all, no egos, and working towards justice and peace for all. That is Islam.

  47. I agree, Mr. Imran Khan…May Allah Bless you…My prayers are with you..

  48. Really inspiring !!!!

  49. Imran Khan is a true Muslim and a great patriot. I have always taken deep interest in the welfare of Pakistan
though not in its politics. Since I met him and heard his speeches, I have become his committed follower.
His intelligence, sincerity, selflessness and patriotism is outstanding; and shines like a moon in the dark avenues of corruption, betrayal and greed in Pakistan. He reflects my feelings and overwhelming majority
of Pakistani people. May God protect him and give him success in his mission. AMEN!
My greatest fear is the current shameless leaders and rulers may attempt to terminate him before he can
accomplish his mission as they have started realizing that he may succeed.

  50. AoA,

The optimism in your words shows that you’re moving towards the right path. May Allah help us all in achieving the Truth. (Aamin!) 🙂

  51. I am surprised that Imran Khan become a true Muslim? When did it happened?

  52. Just like your legendary “in-dipper” this article of yours bowled me over when I expected it to be off side the off stump! Mashaallah I’ve been a diehard fan of yours but now have the highest respect for you. You’re a noble soul Imran Bhai-may Allah bless u & put u at the helm of affairs in Pakistan-the country needs u badly especially at a time when murderers & commission agents have taken over in Islamabad.

  53. Brilliant, an insight worth reading. If people just understand islam, they will comprehend why its a universal religion.

  54. Interesting feedback………..
i was wondering that dis man who is claiming to bring a change n talks abt Islam has a house near Lahore on 280 acres, on wich he has spent over 200 cores! N this is just one of his assets. He is da tenth richest person in the country………… i know our religion does not stop one from earning money n enjoying life if he/she has earned it…. but im not ready to trust the words of anyone who has heaps of money in his possession while ppl all around him are suffering! Apart from the philanthropist project of Shukat Khanum (which is running wid contribution 4m others, not his money alone) wat else has he done?? wat has he done in his own constituency???

Y we as nation become blind, dont question, dnt argue n start following ppl blindly!!! Imran is just another change of face dat wud take place, if at all, wen da international forces decide it! N it will keep happening cz we as nation r not ready to chnage our ways…. its nt a q of leaders only! we, da public, has to change!!

Have we forgotten wat Allah tells us in Quran? As we are so shall be our leaders!!! Y cant we realise that da prob lies within us… we, as nation, need to change! Everyone who has posted comment here or is hailing Imran Khan needs to start doing his/her duty as a Muslim n as a true patriot! We need to build within us a system of accountability that has da ability to stop corrupt corrupt ppl at every level!
Media shows us a pic n we, like fools, start believing in watever utopia or dystopia it builds 4 us!
Ppl wake up…. tabdeeli gher k ander say shuru hoti ha……….. how many of us r ready to make dat change? be dat change???

  55. I always thought religion was the only weak part in your personality. You proved me wrong and glad that you did. Best of luck with the elections. I’m planning to make my debut as a voter.

  56. sadly the last thing our country wants now..

a man divinly guided in his mind and still reeling from old dichotmy of master slave…contradicting his statements again and agian, preaching free choice and then stuffing his brand of islamism down the throats of the entire nation, how much more would we allow these people to abuse religion to suit their politics…Sexy Islamist.. well intentioned but no different from Zia Ul Haq, who thought that islamization is the cure of all ills…sadly there is gallery large enough that is our Mob of a nation, who will nod endlessly and catch every empty anti american, pro islam, anti drone statement thrown their way…when the entire nation is deluded to be the last bastion of islam, its not a surprise that we have janab e wala Imran Sahib of Mianwali Sharif as our leader..well done establishment, next leader to waste a decade is ready and so are the revolutionaries, this time both look good…very dashing. as One Imranian told me imagine, imran going to UN and speaking in his accent, how proud we will feel…….Alas

  57. a worth reading article.. am surprised to learn that imran khan is such a true muslim!! great job !

  58. Excellent article…

  59. Hope and pray that you won’t disappoint the people of pakistan. You are the hope. God bless you Imran Khan

  60. Loved this article! As someone said above, it should be in text books. I pray that he becomes Pakistan’s next prime minister. Btw I want to hear more about the education plan!!!!

  61. This Article changed my whole opinion of Imran Khan which I admit was formed on the basis of my very little knowledge about the man, Mr. Khan Pakistan really needs leaders like you I wish more people read this and get to know real Imran Khan

  62. wow love it …..MA we are so lucky to have him just waiting for sunshine once more to shin on pakistan………

  63. what is the source of this article?

  64. The article is very well written and the writter is honest about his life long experiences.
Imran Khan brings pride to all Pakistani Muslims all over the world.
    LONG LIVE IMRAN KHAN.
    ALL HAIL.
    Your admirer,
    Hiba.

  65. what a crock of shit. Imran khan displays his ignorance of science and his absolute stupidity. compared to darwin imran is a moron. although he should be prime minister his ignorance should be strangled

  66. Dear Mr. Imran

You are an awe inspiring personality. Your character and perseverance in the face of all odds has so far and will always keep my support for you. Its not as if I support the underdog but in reality I had started to believe that we as a nation are a lost cause but you inspire hope in us. We need people like you to guide us, help us and save us. Please stay with us for I see only everlasting ruin if the current state of affairs carry on. I am not being pessimistic just afraid…. afraid for my fellow brothers and my country.

    Sincerely
    Concerned Pakistani

  67. Went through a couple of comments on the article censuring IK’s policies. What do these people think of themselves? Using turgid language and leaving elongated replies would not make you any intelligent or clairvoyant as you may think. You are as unintelligent in comprehension of the article as a 2nd grader would be. Just wanting to go against the grain of diplomacy and sense making insight of Islam and politics proves that you are ignorant and proud rebellion.

Claiming he has loads of properties, without any authentication, without records, just heard from hearsay and vomited with falsehood and venom of hate spewed. Even if he is rich, how can one paint him as one who cannot be relied upon? Is wealth the yardstick to determine whether one is fit for leadership or not? You have a the least account for his altruism and your senseless blabbering proves it. He has done a lot, indeed it is not advertised like our other leaders do, taking the whole camera crew along. He does not do that, so stop judging him already.

When on earth did he bash science? Darwin’s theory is limbless, indeed half baked. Science does NOT have an answer for those two questions. And how is that bashing science? Take your baby critique and shove it up. Try to extract the very well balanced view projected by the article. Don’t you realize that cynics like you could make the whole country suffer? You deserve a tight smack on the bottom for your idiotic analysis.

And another super intelligent maniac comparing this to Zia’s imposition of Islam. I’ll be scornful on that one honestly. What kind of gullible idiots are out here? Are you actually claiming that Islam does not have the solutions for humanity? If you’re an atheist, then let me know specifically, for I have the perfect punch of reality for your belief. if everyone adopts the religion of Islam in its true sense, this world would be a better living place.

And about which sect to start with. For your limited account of info, the 72 sects are not yet 72, there are far less. And of coarse, they aren’t evenly divided, the vast leading majority in Pakistan and throughout the world is Sunni, or should I say those who want to follow Quran and Sunnah alone. We can definitely take a bright start with that. Don’t whine before taking a good step, imagine the rest of our generations refraining from studying Islam just because there were many sects. Which sect do you think Imran Khan followed? We can almost unanimously agree that he has good knowledge of the religion in the right perspective. So do I alhumdulillah and many others do. People like Zakir Naik, Ahmed Deedat, Israr Ahmed, Nouman Ali Khan etc are wonderful exams to study Islam in the right light, not forgetting our great scholars. We must realize that the off shoot sects are evanescent minorities and a man of common sense with unbiased and open thinking can eliminate any false teachings they preach, like myself, as I found fundamental flaws in many a sects, I had the light of Quran and Sunnah. The Quran is easy to understand and remember, then who is there that would receive admonishing? A question by Allah to humanity. Don’t over think it, and study Islam, it is easy, straight forward and anyone who seeks it with sincerity shall be sufficed by Allah’s Mercy.

    Islam for humanity!
    Imran Khan for Pakistan!

    Vote for IMRAN KHAN!

  68. “Philosophers like Darwin with his half-baked theories of evolution”

Imran Khan learn some biology, if you want people to take you seriously OR actually shut your trap and don’t talk about things you have no idea about. You have made yourself a laughing stock by calling Darwin a “philosopher” and is “theories of evolution”, “half-baked”! He was a naturalist, a biologist and came up with a theory that is the bedrock of biology, Islam or no Islam, Christianity or no Christianity, educate yourself first!

  69. its no doubt a worth reading article!!
this is how one has to put effort, take a step towards ALLAH.The rest will be leave to HIM. HE will bless you in a way that you can never think of and you start LOVING HIM.

  70. I dont know why the people are crazy and just saying he will bring the change.
    he talks about the change.
My God what the hell is the Change?
will he give us the free education, employement and food which the other politicians are talking for a long time,
is that what you find in that slogan. This article below
    http://youreads.blogspot.com/2011/11/what-is-change-imran-khan.html
says it right that why are we being fooled by the so calle change which seems to me nothing but just an old slogan . Changing the name doesn’t make it good.

  71. […] […]

  72. net practice for prime ministerial post..well done imran khan..

  73. Hilarious. And timely effort by someone to bring this nonsense to our notice now that Khan sahib is being projected as our next savior: http://www.3quarksdaily.com/3quarksdaily/2011/11/imran-khan-the-12th-man-rises.html#more

  74. RIGHT RIGHT RIGHT! All I can get from this confused individual are vibes from the Rightist mindset. Mr. IK has to be the MOST confused popular cricketer/philanthropist/politician of the century. The man does not know what he wants. And worse are the people following him and actually convinced that he will be the next PM. To reach that post you need to be a politician, ready for alliances and unscrupulous back door deals. Unfortunately, you already sidelined yourself by distancing from all other parties.

Mr. Khan do not lead your cult to despair. There is already too much disappointment in the youth of Pakistan. Your thoughts about religion and incorporating Islam in your life did not reflect in your own character during your life. Hope you wake up from your slumber. Decide what you want. You are confused. You are naive. You have support of the same ‘corrupt’ faces who have been tried, tested and failed. Your policies are idealistic, you live far from reality. Your definition of ‘change’ Changes. Recently, you went on to say you will ‘befriend the U.S. on your terms’ while you were totally anti U.S. till this point. What changed your stance? Was it the Secretary of State? Was it the ISI , IB or MI?

  75. Imran, you are going to fight with these mullas, senseless politicians and impotent administration. Youth is with you in this war. shake them out.

  76. Mr. Imran khan I am glad to read that you are really interested to be a real M omen. There is a difference between a Mo men & Muslim. Any one can be a Muslim but a few can be real M omens. Once Allah guides a man directly is the highest stage for Muslim. I assume that you have seen the world & have gone through all worldly procedures. So there is no more desire in your heart to look back. Because you are under direct Allah shelter & guidance. It is here that you think about weak & poor brothers & sisters & you feel pain for them.
Don’t you see Million of people attracted towards you, with out studying & understanding your Manifesto & policies, out of which most of them are yet to be declared. A man like me who is highly educated, seen 2/3 of the world. Educated from schools like Lawrence College Ghora Gali, Public school Abbottabad, Convent schools & University of Peshawar have developed great feelings for you & pray for your success & convince my friends & colleagues, relatives to vote for you & request their friends further tor work for your success. What is all this I was PPP great follower. But after the death Of Benazeer Bhutto Shaheed I have never voted for this party. Who would vote Zardari only a fool & totally mad person.
Since I live in Sialkot now & do a small export business which is not good now. Due to International crises & lack of Funds. But Inshallah soon it will get better. Yes I & people of Sialkot wants to see you in Sialkot.
Since I am in Business 28 years. This city is a strong vote bank for Nawaz Sharif & all Money Magnets take his side. There are some reason for it. Though Kh..Asif has done nothing for Sialkot in 20 years, nor his father. But exporters & business sector thinks that Nawaz Sharif is the only man who can protect their interests because he is a business man. Well when you come for visit you must be well prepared to give some business options to them. There are 3/4 main points which they will appreciate & welcome your ideas.
    i. Import relaxation never more then 5%
    2. Rebate on exports which is already finished now
    3. Energy gas & electricity on cheaper & constant supply
    4. For poor & middle class massive improvement in drainage system in city & all streets, hygienic water, & sweepers for all city & near by villages. To finish Qubza group & make arrangements for health & education for poor & middle class.
I am 100% sure this will attract 80% of voters. You have already youth & women on your side
I hope you will give give special attention to my above points. Which will definitely prove a great stimulant.
    Allah blessing be upon you.
    Best regards

  77. I agree Mr. Khan but can you tell me you study about Islamic constitutions? Hundreds of book are written by Aimatul Muslimeen, how many you have studied? how you will make Islamic constitution according to the Era? You also have many extremist Mullas in your party can you spell them if they don’t agree with you? you have most of your local leaders that don’t know abc of Islam and they are also corrupt in history how you will bind them when they all are already in punishment law ranges? will you forgive their corruption because they are now with you? or you will trail against them? can you announce these things in your speeches?

  78. Wonderful article but with a bundle of editing mistakes. An editor’s look could have made it even better.

  79. Excellent article, all the muslims inpired by western life must read it, and we all need to share it with our friends. Not only it is for muslims but also for non muslims to think……. it has a great lesson

  80. well its all about the faith matters. the problem we have here in our county is that most of our nation wants to co-relate and to make a bunch of politics, religion and the state. thats the Deli-ma of our society

  81. Very simple and thought provoking. Must read for people especially Muslims who are either apologetic about their religion or are living with ‘selective Islam’

  82. Why burn in hell if all is predestined?

What had we done that God deprived us from the Glory and fame Khan had? Why God?

  83. Why cant Mr Imran Khan does not accept his daughter from Sita White???The girl was born out of wedlock and he has never accepted her, even though after the death of Sita White he and Jamima are the official Guardians of this girl.He is not accepting her bec of the fear Islamic fundamentalist who will put a fatwa on him that he has done a sin and then his political career will be gone for good….Imran Accept her publically.

  84. A very well written entry, that truly shows the power of understanding the beauty of Islam and how it affects us all. Great one 🙂

  85. excellent article…..
So true it is. We need to think in the same line as
    Br. Imran.
Fir ye chaman mamoor hoga naghma-e tauheed se inshaAllah

  86. Most people commenting on this article failed to realize that it was written in 1998, and the educational programme he referred to was the NUML college…

  87. Good article that reflects his personal journey.

My problem with Imran Khan is that he seems to only want to continue the path of “selective Islam” since he does not advocate implementing the Shariah of Allah (swt) in Pakistan. You can not be all things to all people and you can not say what people want to hear in order to solve the problems of Pakistan. Pakistan is where it is for the simple reason that its political leaders have been expedient with Islam and have not taken the stand that needed to be taken in the past.

Pakistan needs a good leader but it needs a strong political movement that can deliver true Islam in the 21st century more so.Pakistan needs a new constitution and a new governing system that will allow real changes to be made so that the resources of Pakistan can be mobilised for the country’s development. This will not be a popularity contest. The situation has gone beyond that. Its about the survival of Pakistan.

  88. Wonderful article President Khan.

  89. Our problem is simple. WE dont have knowledge of our religion, and those who have, got it second-hand from Mullas. It is Irony that we read the first-hand source of Islamic knowlege Quran like aparrot, without understanding its meaning. If we make it a point that every day we read only one or two pages of Quran in ARABIC and it’s TRANSLATION in URDU or ENGLISH, we will finish Quran with meaning in about 3 years (aproximate 1000 pages, 365 pages in a year @ 1 page per day). We may understand only a small part of what we read, say 10% to 20%, but if we repeat the process, and again start reading quran with TRANSLATION a second, and then a third time, our understanding will greately increse. It is unfortunate that we use the greatest source of knowledge for Barkat only, and never try to read its translation to understand it.

  90. I read your article and I have been following your evolution as a politician too. Right now what I see you seem to lack is any substantive attention to how will you achieve your goal of bringing a moral (Islamic transformation) of inidividual Muslims and “Muslim society” in general in the context of the westoxicated global culture. Non-Islam or contra-Islamic culture is freely avaialble in the global media. What information and entertainment/cultural policy will you have? How will you regulate mass culture and mass media? How would your mass communication and cultural policy be different from that of the Musharraf era? I know administering a country through a just and fair governance and a fair justice system is a big component but an equally important component has to be a system of non-formal education and acculturation or enculturation. This is where your mass communication policy will come in. And on that particular count you will not find any ready wisdom in the western scholarship, although you may derive one from the Western scholarship on mass mediated culture and enculturation. As a student of mass communication educated in the West I may have some ideas that you might find useful. If you are interested you might reach me through my email. In the meantime, goodluck and godspeed for all that you stand for.

  91. Pl. add Pakistan media to the global media in the preceding comment.

  92. You have read some Quran. You seem dangerous if you are going to reinforce Islamic studies in Pakistani schools which are already half-Madrassahs!

  93. Learning process has just started, long way to go.Persistence is the key.

  94. Dear Imran,

Since a child I have idolized you as a visionary and determined successful cricketeer, reading your text has opened a whole new vista about you. I saw your Lahore Jalsa and knew we had amongst us a leader whom I know for sure had my vote and my familiys’. Hats off, no one could have summarised it more beautifully as you have just done about the dual identity that we have lived in. Studing in Convent but not attendiong the church, entering Kinnaird and reciting and singing the hymns that we knew nothing of as children. How right we have been dubiusly disconnecting ourselves from our identity as Muslims and above all PAkistanis. It is a pleasure to know that we have amongst us a person who can show us the path, lead us out of doldrums and into the relams of a promise of a new future. thank you……….from idolizing we are now your biggest fans.
    regards,

  95. It hurts me deeply when people call Pakistan a failed state and then first go on to say how in the last 64 years the institutions have crumbled and then compare to what China and India have achieved .

Imran Khan has given this nation hope at a time when there was none. I can understand those who are skeptical about him. We Pakistanis have been fed so many false promises that we have stopped believing in the fact that someone will actually do what he says.

So all you skeptics , give Imran Khan a chance. He deserves it.

  96. Hi Man,
I have read your article, it was really interesting and fantastic story. so l like it so much

  97. Salam. Amazed to read this blog of yours. So true for this sub-continent! Few days back, I was wondering why there were such social unstability, where thousands of parents were only reaching a point of vulnerability, thanks to their misbehaving children; why many from our and younger generation were acting like lost cows, failing to decide which path to choose; why family system was breaking down etc etc. This blog provides enlightens ans sheds light on many issues. While the inferiority complex and getting opportunities to overcome it were too salient at your level, or being forced to fight or flight became an issue for you; the problem with the mass youth lies in being shallow and not going to the roots, partially because they don’t have to. This results in ever-depleting ethical values. But one doesn’t have to reach at the level of yours to act responsible. Hope some day we will get torch-bearers like you to guide us well and inspire our living.

  98. wonderful and reality based writing …..gr8 leader imran khan

  99. Hi, I am a Bangladeshi and I really appreciate the writing , I have been observing him closely and wondering at is charismatic political meetings. I hope , he will be able to lead Pakistan towards the right both.

I have a question for him ” Will Imran Khan be bold enough to say sorry to Bangladeshis for the atrocities, genocides and deprives were done to Bangladesh during our freedom fight”

I hope he will be able to think our of box…

  100. Hi, I am from Bangladesh too. Well, I am happy that someone shared this link to my Facebook page. Otherwise, I could have missed this wonderful writing. Imran Khan was a world class cricketer of his time and a dynamic politician of Pakistan in recent times. I think he is a philosopher too. The way he put forward his understanding about Islam in this article is absolutely incredible. If he indeed practices what he believes about Islam one day he will become a great leader not only of Pakistan but also of the world. insh-Allah. May Allah bless Imran.

About my fellow countryman’s question, I strongly believe Imran khan will step forward and let the general people of Pakistan know what massacre had taken place in Bangladesh in 1971. And we the people of Bangladesh do deserve apology.

All the best wishes for Imran and his people.

  101. Very disappointed by this article. The implication that secularism is somehome immoral and soulless is a ridiculous simplification. Many people in the western world are deeply spiritual – but want religion out of government institutions. Pardon me if I missed something – I lost patience when he started going on single mothers and the divorce rate.

  102. His words are so appealing but i am not sure if people of pakistan will get the message. However his writing is so inspirational for person like me who left pakistan 20 years ago because of cultural and religious difference in western countries and how i can see my kids going through that at this point and it is also very true that exploring Islam through Quran is the best possible option.

  103. Mr Khan-
I don’t know much about you. But I like your thoughts and comments and ditto it.
May Allah guide you and enhance your power of thinking.keep up the good work.
Obviously you are running for office and hopefully your people will
elect you to guide them the right way. First thing I suggest you change
bribery to an exception rather than a rule in your country.
    God bless you.

  104. Gosh I haven’t’ had this kind of reading for god know ages. Great stuff. Why can’t we ever think of ourselves the way Imran himself thinks? We make our lives complicated by wrong preaching from the community. Not that our imams are saint either. There’s time I went to pray at Friday and heard loads of manipulative preaching by imams. Actually our holy book said it all and all ewe have to do is follow it. Instead, we just go out there to gain wrong info and trying to live our lives but Mr. Khan; well said.

    Rommell Morshed

  105. Dear Mr. Khan,
Though I’m not a Pakistani, I truly believe that Pakistan need a leader/ progressive thinker like you to get out of the mess they are currently in. You have the great quality of admitting your mistakes and take lessons from it which is not common in Pakistani politicians. Wish you all the best

  106. I am from Bangladesh n yes, i do believe our muslim society is polarised into the extreme left n the xtreme right…..in such a case the only way out f this calamity is removing ignorance: from both groups. One thing most people dont realise is that Quran doesnt discourage scientific n liberal thinking; infact, it encourages n if we Muslim society hadnt been so selective in following Islam, scientific thinking would’ve flourished in the Arab n the muslim world!!! I cant give the xact verses bt many a times Quran does tell u to find “truth” in the “nature around you”. A few things among many that is mentioned in Quran albeit cursorily are:
    1) the idea of expanding universe
    2) the idea of gravity
    3) the “BIG CRUNCH” : Keyamot
    4) the idea that all heavenly bodies in space are in constant motion
    5) not 0nly that these are in motion but they follow their fixed path
    …………and a lot more!!!!
1 more thing: science is subject 2 change: even Einstein’s idea that nothing can cross the speed of light has come under jeopardy very recntly!!! So we must think twice b4 giving our heart into “Darwin’s theory of evolution”

  107. Very nice.

Our society should learn the fact that it is not only ‘Mullahs’ who can give us Islam. People other than those Mullahs can also make us understand religion, like this article.

  108. Nice comments Sabir!

  109. 54. @ Iwant2believe & TN:
You both are morons. What the hell is wrong with you guys. Please go through the article again. You havent understood it. I havent read such an insight into the Selective Islam we have here in our country. Specially Mr. TN: People are not elongating their comments to show there linguistic skills, but only you have done this.

  110. Great stuff Imran. I wont say anything else but that We Love You. Keep it up and remember, please never compromise on your principles.

  111. The most inspiring political figure our country has seen after Quaid-e-Azam!

  112. […] The dream & power of One Imran Khan […]

  113. Subhanallah! Imran Khan, even though I am not a Pakistani, ye t I feel PROUD OF YOU already….to have such an Enlighted person as a fellow Muslim simply drives to know my Allah (SWT) more and more….You are an unparallel inspiration! Keep up the noble work!!

    Regards
    Bushra

  114. ” soo chohay khay kay billi chali haj pay” Dear Khan have you ever set any example for pakistani youth of your young life. I am from generation who saw you as stubborn, privileged elite class dictator, play boy emotional young man.

We dont see you as leader. maximum 10-15 NA seats is what ISI will give you, you are being created to teach lesson to Mian Nawaz shariff , If today Nawaz agree to support establishment you are gone.

Mr.Khan Now you talk about Islam and when you do it you behave just like Jamat-e-Islami.
For God sake DO NOT exploit islam in politics , not again Plz.

About Your Jalsas it was good but why music bands performing what is the logic? and what is the relation with youR ISLAMIC IDEOLOGY. ABB PAGAL NAHEE BANAY GEE YEH NATION . YOU COULD BE AN OPTION BUT NOT THE ULTIMATE SOLUTION.

  115. […] Selective Islam– an article by Imran Khan […]

  116. This is one of the wonderfully written articles I came across. The boldness of the person matches his character. We need lots of Imran Khan to deliver the message of Deen to the young generation who would be good human being and good Muslim. My Salaam to Janab Imran Khan for his self admitted deli-ma while he was growing up as elite student which would be good example for today’s elite students at home or in the west.

  117. I pray for your good health and courage to turn the table. You are really influencing the opinions of the citizens of this country to bring a great change that could ensure fair, just and transparent society.

May God bless all of us to come out of all teh complexes we had and mentioned by you in teh article. This is really arguable and convincing.

  118. Mr. Imran khan,

I congratulate you for telling in such a lucid manner the very essence of Islam, which you have been able to comprehend despite your ” western” influenced education background, I have the same views as yours but you just said what I wanted to. Thank you very much. Please keep on writing and try to educate the so called educated of our society in the subcontinent.

I admired you as a cricketer and now I admire you more for the effort you are making to understand our religion in its true perspective and disseminating it to the ignorant. I wish you all success!!

    Best regards
    Iftekhar
    Bangladesh

  119. i think, no doubt Imran has will/courage to do something but the team he has, will not let him to do this. as they most of them have very poor character. Live\ing “Hope for Best”

  120. Excellent article… thanks for sharing ur experiences..

Some people have written that the dream of pakistan is dead and some have said they see a hope in imran khan..

talking abt being dead… our religion is such that – the basic core is abt resurrection – alive from dead…

why cant pakistan – be a source of goodness to the world… and come our better – after the crisis it is going through..

  121. This reply is for miss Rihana. First and foremost, in the year 1974 under the premiereship of Zulfiqar Ali Butto with consensus of Ullama e Ikram of all sects Qadyanis were declared non muslims because of their belief on Prophethood after the seal of Prophets Muhammad (SAW). According to Quran and Hadiths, the Tauheed is the first condition of Emaan and believe in the finality of Muhammad (SAW) Prophethood as the the final condition of Emaan. No Prophet shall ever come. We muslims (including sunnis & shias) strongly believe in it. If we were to believe in any other Prophet after Muhammad (SAW) then why would we choose to be a muslim ? Quran has put forward certain conditions based on which we call ourselves muslims, please in order to please western society or pseudo liberals dont play with our emaan.

I do not support any act of violence committed by any muslim (be it sunni or shia), a murder of one man is equivalent of the murder of entire humanity (as mentioned by Holy Quran) but I would like to ask you, did you raise your voice when young sunni men were butchered by American armed forces in Afghanistan, did you raise your voice when there were attacks on Sunni mosques in Pakistan? Did you raise your voice when sunni men were murdered on Milad of Prophet (SAW) in Rabbi ul Awwal ? And how are you so sure sunni’s murdered shia’s ? It could be other communities (non-muslims) trying to create disharmony between the two sects !

Violence be it on Sunnis Shias or non muslims (including Qadyanis) should be and must be condemned !

  122. Wonderful Islamic Articles by Imran Khan . He is a great Man and we hope he will be the next President of Pakistan.

  123. Very well said Mr. Imran Khan.
A very thought provokin article.. Deep and true words
May Allah give us and our country whats best for us.

  124. Thank you for a wonderful write up.

A Very Educative Article Indeed Mr. Imran Khan. And a must read for those who under the influence of western culture and relative hypothesis of science appears to be a “know all” type individual. We must not forget that it is truly a transitory place and we have to ultimately return to Almighty Allah and face the Judgement Day.
May Almighty guide us towards the Truth and Bless us All.

  127. imran is a nice leader.

  128. Imran khan is not only the hero of cricket, social working, education etc. as describes by many of his opponents, and critics BUT, actually He is the Hero of ISLAM and Muslim Ummah, and also a true leader of Pakistani nation,. Who can lead the nation by articulating their sentiments to the nation, as well as to the west.
about Imran , may be Iqbal has said,

  129. Jazakallah Khair. As a muslim brother my heart went out to you brother Imran. You have been bestowed with the enlightenment from Allah SWT, that shows Allah SWT loves you so much. Keep up the good work of not only fulfilling the rights of Allah SWT but also the mankind at large. The greatest need of hour for Pakistan today is a person who has basic and common sense about Islam and humanity concern from islamic perspective.
Its delightful to read such a touching article from celebrity like you. I always believed that celebrity and religion are two side of the coin, opposite to each other, but brother you have proved me wrong.
May Allah SWT guide all the muslim ummah to the right path. Ameen

  130. Believe me when i was reading, it was like my thoughts and experiences have been given a voice. Marvellous.

  131. well, mr.imran pakistan seems to be so close to egypt . . . however abdul nasser got us rid of the inferiority complex to the U.K . . . however your understanding of islam is really what we need here and everywhere please keep writing as we need to correct extrimist salafi way as its ritual selective islam

    greetings from egypt 🙂

  132. We want you to be the NEXT Prime Minister! And we EXPECT A LOT OF REFORMS by your GOVT.

Do you believe in one part of the Book and reject the other?whoever does that amongst you will be given torment in this life and on the day of Qyama will be returned to an even greater penalty;and Allah is not unaware of what you do.”Surah Baqarah.
The Prophet pbuh said on one occasion:Everyone of my ummah will enter Jannah except those who refuse. The Companions were really surprised at this.Who would refuse they asked the Apostle of Allah. He pbuh replied:”Those who OBEY me will enter Paradise, those who disobey me have indeed refused.”
Growing a beard is not an option ,it is an obligation. The Messenger of Allah (saww)ORDERED the believing men to grow the beard and trim the moustache.
We want the domination of Islam in Pakistan:Thy kingdom come,Thy Will be done as it is in the heavens.”He is the One who sent his Prophet(pbuh)with guidance and the religion of Truth in order that this Deen might triumph over all other religions .”(this verse comes 3 times in the Quran,)
A way of life especially one based on Revelation is meaningless if it is not implemented and put into practise in all spheres of individual and collective life.Listen to Dr Israr’s lectures for enlightenment.”So ask people of knowledge if you do not know.”Quran

  134. What a disappointment! That the only hope for Pakistan is a fundamentalist, even extremist. Disputing evolutionary theory? How can he promote true unbiased science education in Pakistan if he came to power? Not to mention the contradictions in the article. The west is both great and imitable as well as sad and contemptible. That kind of conflict and backwardness is sad, not the west…

  135. Every religion has three sets of followers.
There are the Fundamentalists who firmly believe that only they are the chosen children of God. All others are outsiders.
There are the Moderates who think that others too might also be the chosen children of God.
Finally there are the Futurists who believe that all are children of God.
When fundamentalists hold dirigiste political control, problems arise.

  136. Mr. Khan very insightful article. I am trying to gain knowledge of other cultures and religious beliefs. As a new writer, activist for peace and human rights; I feel that all knowledge that I can absorb will be a powerful tool to help my mission and understanding for change and a better world for all mankind. I often have wondered how mankind teaches different religious views of our creator, but humanity seldom practices or lives by the teachings of God. Man takes his world and bends it , molds it changes it to fit their selfish wants and needs and does horrific horrors in his name. Unfortunately, it is the children of the world that suffer for our sins. The hate, greed, lust, lies, pride, envy, wrath, murder from generation to generation throughout the world just keeps recycling itself over and over. The world’s children (the worlds’ hope) keep dying ~ our planet is dying ~ our animal kingdom, the souls of man are dying and all humanity actions are responsible for the finality of this world. I believe until all mankind learns to respect and value all life and value all the beautiful and wonderful gifts God created instead of trying to destroy them …until that day voices for peace and change will have to ring loud and clear. Bev

  137. God Speed Imran Khan!

  138. MashaALLAh that very nice and so true as well

  139. This article made me like Imran Khan more! Very well written!

  140. Well said sir 🙂

  141. This was an eye-opener. Not only was I able to understand how ‘Imran Khan’ understood what ‘God’ was all about, I was also able to relate to all this. I don’t know whether you’ll be our leader in the coming years or so, for that is the will of Allah, as you have narrated yourself, but i can see very clearly that you’re an honest man, who has genuinely learned over the years what life is all about and what part religion plays in in, what extremism is and what God actually expects man to be. I wouldn’t have written a message here as out of 140 messages, mine would certainly be lost somewhere in the list, but I want this to get to you somehow. It all meant a lot…for I’ve been someone who learnt about God the same way and understood what surrendering to the will of the Supreme Power meant for us. I have stopped believing in Pakistan as a nation but with this article, the hope of having you as a leader to guide the nation towards the right way seems to emerge. Then again, as you have said, even the Holy Prophet was asked ‘to give the message’ and not ‘force anyone’…so the ignorant ones will simply look at this article in a scornful way too.

  142. May Allah give us the serenity to accept the things we cant change, and to change the things we can Ameen…All wott we need is to Just “Bow down to Rise”…
    Pakistan Zindabad!

  143. Lot’s has happened since 1998. You’ve definitely done some good deeds and from your article you do show understanding. I am on your side too.

  144. Then there are Muslims who no none is children of God as God doesnt have children..

Problem with Imran khan is he doesnt understand Islam.

Moderate means sticking to strict Islam will be in the Middle of two kuffars. For instance the kufr take two views one view is free sex without any boundries and the other is to live a life without any sex like Monks. Islam is in the middle of these two which is sex inside Marriage.

Islam is sticking to Quran and sunnah. Having the Prophet peace be upon him as your role model not Allama Iqbal or others. Poets are not Islamic scholars and I am sure Allama Iqbal didnt ask anyone to take him as his/her role model.

Some are taking Holliwood and bolliwood and even lolliwood Actors as their role models, Some take scientists as their role models, some like Imran take poets as their Role Models. A true Muslim takes hi Prophet peace be upon him as his/her role model.

Imran prefers democracy over Shariah. Thinking the west came out with a better way of living than the Prophet peace be upon him.

  145. IMRAN KHAN ……….U RULE…….U ARE OUR MAN AND True Leader With right ideology of our country….We Want You To Be PM or President…!!!

  146. well on a more non political note, after reading this article i found a lot of answers i was searching for. I believe that recently i have changed a lot as a person, being my first year of university abroad, striving to become the best version of myself. So far most of the things about myself i was improving, sort-of took me farther away from Islam. I feel, now that i have read this “one of a kind piece of art” which I can relate to in more than just a few ways, that I have found a path i can follow. It was a pleasure reading this article.

  147. the article was too long for me to read, though i did go through first few paras of it.. seems very inspiring and pragmatic approach of Mr Khan. But what caught my eyes was the damn handsome look of young Khan. Kudos.

  148. While the statistics may have altered slightly, it’s quite amazing how we’re still living in the same world 15 years since. He’s been a great ambassador for humanity – hope to see the voting population of Pakistan give him his due chance at helping the country and making for a better world.

  149. A thoughtful article written by one of the legend Pakistan has ever produced and we all wish and pray he is our next PM as well!!

  150. A very well written article which touched the inner self and I could relate to it at many things. Imran Khan the saying ‘to be believe in one God and DO GOOD DEED’ has jolted me! I can see that u believe in this strongly and that’s why u hav done some much for the under previliged although you weren’t in power. May Allah bless u with victory this Election and may ALLAH subhanatallah Bless this NATION PAKISTAN with a leader like you. We need you to guide us and help us evolve as true muslim …Muslims who believe in One true God and DO GOOD DEEDS!

  151. This article touched my heart!

  152. […] http://www.mybitforchange.org/2011/selective-islam/ […]

  153. Well said khan !!

  154. Well said captain!

  155. It is rather a long article, but I persisted and read it all the way. Though I was already impressed by the man, but after having an insight into the man and his thoughts, I have developed even more respect for him. He is way out of the ordinary. There are unfortunately very few people like him in our country. Pakistan is lucky to have him at this point of time. If sense prevails, and there is also some divine help (I believe), he will be elected to lead Pakistan inshallah. His main rival today is Nawaz Sharif. Sorry to say, he is a nitwit. Even if he is born five times over, he will never be able to develop such thoughts. All what he speaks, is very shallow. The man has no depth, no sense and no ideas. The other major leader, Zardari is primarily very evil and full of vice. Extremely selfish, fully motivated to loot and plunder. To perpetuate his nefarious designs, he is promoting (and grooming) the next generation (Bilawal) on the art in which he himself is too adept. The third force in Pakistan, MQM, the less said about it the better. They want to reign by terror. To meet their ends, they use fear as their means. They are ruthless, to say the least. Besides, they are highly unprincipled party. They align with any party who is in power, even with a dictator. Altaf Hussain is a mad man now. Just listen to way he speaks, you will get convinced by what I am saying. So under such grim and dismal state, Imran Khan is the only light at the end of the tunnel. He is the silver lining. With the ideas he possesses and the determination he has, if voted to power, we will certainly see steps towards the right direction for the first time after the sad early death of Quaid-e-Azam. Revolutionary changes will come; I can promise that.

  156. Seriously …who wrote this zabardast article????????????????? Is it really written by Imran?????I need to know what future does he plan for the disabled people of our society ?????How does he make sure that they become independant and how can he provide help and education to them…What are the promises for the betterment of their life?????No one ever seems to think of them…They are always sidelined by all politicians ……So Mr.Imran Khan……..If there is a plan for them ………..I would happily like to be a part of P.T.I…….just hoping that maybe your farsightedness could make a difference to the forgotten ones!

  157. wonderful iconic words. now, should we talk about his lifestyle and life partner choices?…..wonderful stiring words can be written, but how many of us lead a life that are equal to those words?…..Ghandiji did that…..did Imran Khan do that?…..just because he is a famous cricketer and now politician, does his life exemplify one of a muslim in every way?…..no offense meant to the good works he is doing or has done, but words and deeds have to go hand in hand……..Allah knows best what is in someones heart…….

  158. Completely blown off, a wonderful article and a must read. This is the ideology that Muslims today are lacking, Islam is a religion for me that ask for your intellect to develop, think and reflect and be enlightened. It is not merely a religion having rituals and words without essence, it is a religion with a context, with its understanding making us better human beings and closer to the way to the Will of Allah.
Guess, you are the only one who can change the fate of this nation now into a more prosperous and truly a Islamic republic in its essence.
    Thankyou.

  159. The writing is an account, at places a circumstantial narrative, of Khan’s assimilation of the religion of Islam. His comparison to the West, though is not apt. Here, he confuses the values of the East with Islam, when he refers to divorce rate, old people’s home, joint family system etc. Further perplexing is his declaration of religion as the axis of morality. This assertion that all morality stems from religion is erratic. No matter how you define ‘Non religiousness”/ non believers/ Aethism/ Secularism, its relativity to rectitude and morality is not that simple. Infact the simplest and the most beautiful example is the very beginnings of our religion, that he talks about, the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Long before Nabuwwat (Prophethood) was bestowed upon him, he was nurtured on the rules of morality. He was not entrusted with the accords of Islam but the lessons on the highest levels of “Sidq and Amaanat” to present to the society to which he later proffered the religion of Allah. This is where the basic misconstruction lies in the understanding of our religion and the root cause of the “selectivity” in following Islam, that he refers to. We go into the details of practicing Islam with complete oblivion of the obligations to fellow human beings.
The debate of Science vs Religion has no end. Khan’s analogy of science and materialism is muddled with bias. China has the highest no. of “Non religious/no believing in religion” people. Has this made them a lesser nation? Also, science has given us the answers to the two questions regarding the purpose of life and what happens after death. Those may not be acceptable to a religious person, but they are there. Then, he talks about crime rate and racism in the US. We don’t see racism in the “Muslim Ummah” as we close our eyes to it. The most heinous example of racism and inequality still prevails in affluent Arab countries where people are judged/employed/accepted or rejected on the basis of nationality, color and wealth, the order may change, but the fact remains. We see racism in Pakistan all the time at all levels.
His trifling view of “fear of getting old”, plastic surgery etc. in the west has lack of depth. These prevail in the elites of the East, seen at its worst in Saudi Arabia, even in Pakistan.
The fact that 60% of US population sees a psychiatrist, and I don’t know the study he is referring to, is because help is available here. Yes the complexities of a competitive, capitalist, societal pressures play a role, but by no means it can be confounded to any diabolical force of “progressiveness” or “materialism.
Secondly his view of the West, primarily US is what I sense, is warped. Old peoples’ home, single family culture, is more of a socio economic need than an ethical issue. Joint family system, again is a value/need of the East, rather than Islam. It has it’s own set of issues. The “security blanket” of joint family system Khan refers to, also takes away the responsibilities of independent survival. Divorce rate is high in the west due to reasons other than morality. It has to do with socio economics. Divorce/ marriage ratio in Saudi Arabia is similar to Italy and higher than Mexico.. Divorce rate is high in societies where it is not considered a social taboo but an acceptable, prevailing option. Even in the West, there are women who don’t go for divorce because they cannot survive financially.
In short, Khan needs to have a better understanding of Islam, and an equitable view of the West. Former is his choice as long as it doesn’t affect others. The latter though is a requisition that I seek from a Leader of today.

  160. You took the words out of my mouth! Very well written. I hope you win and if you do I hope you stay true to your words. Please dont let people down like the rest. If you read this please know there are many counting on you!

  161. An awesome personality ,character n upbringing reflection of our national hero and leader.

  162. I’m sorry… even in 1998 that would have reeked of bullshit. Darwin’s half baked theory of evolution? Sweden and Switzerland having the highest suicide rates? 60% of Americans consult psychiatrists? Crime rates are rising in almost all western societies? He couldn’t be more wrong. Embarrassing to think he was schooled at Oxford if he really did write this article. Where are these stats coming from?

  163. i instantly became a great fan of him when i saw his interview with Alan Wilkins before 20011 World Cup.I think he was a great leader of the greatest Pakistan team ever with some of the finest of the game like Wasim Akram,Waqar younus,Saeed Anwar,Inzamam,Amir Sohail.
i think he can lead Pakistan to aplace like he did in 1992.Allah grant him long life and gives him the strength to make a better Pakistan and a better World.
    I am a Bangladeshi citizen and he’s my idol as a leader,as a friend,as a performer.

  164. Imran Khan: “Science had replaced religion and if something couldn’t be logically proved it did not exist. ”

If something cannot be logically proved, then whether it exist or not exist is a mute point. Everyone is free to go outside of logic and ‘believe’ whatever he/she like and call it their religion but science by definition stays within natural world that is understood through reason and logic. So, I don’t buy that argument of Imran Khan, sorry.

I was surprised that he implicitly expressed that religion is outside of logic, which is something most religious people will vehemently disagree with.

He also uses wrong stats in the article as pointed out by other commentators.
Having said that, I still hope he wins. He is better than other politicians and has the potential to fix a lot of Pakistan’s problems.

  165. @David Evans Those stats are true! Most “developed” western countries have the highest suicide rates on the planet!
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_suicide_rate

    http://www.villagevoice.com/2012-10-03/news/new-york-crime-rate-rising/

This article is indeed a beautiful reflection of the real truth in our lives! Loved it! 🙂

  166. @Ali — According to wikipedia link you provided, Sweden is #34 and Switzerland is #43 (Pakistan is #98, not stellar). But Imran Khan said following in his article:

“Sweden and Switzerland, who provide the most welfare to their citizens, also have the highest suicide rates; hence, man is not necessarily content with material well being he needs something more. Since all morality has it roots in religion, once religion was removed, immorality has progressively escalated since the 70′s. ”

He was specific about these two countries and not talking about ‘developed’ western countries when talking about suicide rates.

  167. Mr.Imran Khan is a privileged man who has a great insight into the western aristocratic life style. In fact he claims that finest individuals known to him are from west. From what I understood he is a progressive Muslim with fairly liberal views. He may be the best man to stand up for the immense challenges to save Pakistan from complete collapse. Surely he will have a lot of people who will not agree with his selective Islam.

  168. I read the full article as well few of the comments. It is unfortunate that we have qaht ur rijaal (scarce of true human). He is like andhown main kana raja. Some of the folks have mentioned quite concretely how the facts has been presented in his article. Just imagine he couldn’t even realize saying “Imran Khan: ‘Science had replaced religion and if something couldn’t be logically proved it did not exist. ‘ ” will be an equivalent of saying that religion is illogical! A leader won’t speak where he don’t know for the sake of honesty. From his article it is very clear how he is trying to take attention on the name of Islam and religion. His own life has spent against it for the full life! How beautifully our Prophet (SA) has given us guidance on recognizing the folks “khair o kum khair o kum lay ahlay hee”, the best among you is the one who is best for his wife. His wife could not follow him or his way, if he was a great leader at least he should have shown skill at the home level. A person who can’t run home will run nation! There is lot to write but enough if someone pay heed.

  169. @K. Nag

if you look at the dates you will see that those are outdated. this article was written in 2011. I do not know whether imran khan is right or not but the figures most likely will have changed by the time it is written.

  170. actually i don`t know if it was written in 2011. it might have been 1998 (due to the title). in any case the figures would most certainly have changed either way.

  171. good article, forces you to think, even if just a little bit.

  172. Some of the comments are so stupid. You guys need to improve your readings skills before trying to analyse something. When he said “Science had replaced religion and if something couldn’t be logically proved it did not exist.”
He means sarcastically! He is taunting this bad influence of science. He is not supporting it.

    Lame, illiterate people.

  173. Your current post features verified beneficial to me personally.

It’s really informative and you are certainly quite well-informed

thoughts about this topic with intriguing and strong content material.

  175. I have just read it all, as a Mental Health Professional and being a Muslim Nature, i truly believe it all. About Qur’an sayings of-course, it is for whole mankind and not only for Muslims no matter what they have chosen for themselves now a days to practice Humanity, Religion, Politics and Economics Including Biological Instincts. Not just like a western culture but it also mentioned in Quran, ”Quome Loot’ Practice a in History. Western culture justifies it with out placing it in Diagnostic Criterion of Mental Illnesses and Disorders to call it a Disorder because of their everyday practice in life style. SO where, there are Biological Instincts prevail in any society without a set criterion like Quranic Teaching of difference in Humanity /Homo Sapiens ANd It’s opposite Wilderness. That’why we are facing such crap in our culture.

    Naseem Hafeez Malik

  176. Thank you very much for this insightful article.
    Lot to think about.

  177. Dee Emm,

Darwain’s theory is not the bedrock of biology. Its just a theory, and much has been written against it. You need to catch up on that reading.
Laws – now laws of science are the bedrocks. Law of motion, gravitation, planetary motion, those by Boyle etc. Even Einstein’s theories of relativity (both of them) are just theories since they have not been independently verified and are not universally accepted.
The very fact that the Theory of Evolution could not become the Law of evolution means that it is not universally acceptable and has issues.
Hope you’ve started to read by now, because you have a lot of catching up to do…..

  178. Get what good you can out of the article, keep your head up straight: he’s only human – not an angel – and nothing more.

  183. This is such a thought provoking article. After reading it, my views completely changed about Imran Khan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf. I now desire to see how you put this into application while governing Khyber Pakhtun Khwa.
Insha’Allah change will come, if thoughts like this one prevail in our society.

  184. Khalid Rizvi “By following the fundamentals of Islam rather than becoming a Kalashnikov-wielding fanatic I have become a tolerant and a giving human being who feels compassion for the under-privileged.” This makes sense. But your simplistic hypothesis: Drones=Terrorism does not. Not a word of condemnation on Police killings in Baluchistan or Jail break in D.I. Khan. I could never understand your philosophy on Talibans and Terrorism. Have the courage to tell it to the world: “MY NAME IS KHAN, AND I HATE KALASHNIKOV-WIELDING -FANATICS.”

  185. In the Name of Allah, The Most Compassionate, The most Merciful.

” O Allah! I seek Your protection from the torture of hell, and I seek Your protection fromthe torture of the grave, and I seek refuge with You from the mischief of life and death, and I seek Your protection from the mischief of Dajjal pretending as Messiah. O Allah! Iseek refuge in You from sin and from debt.” O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the torment of the grave, from the torment of the Fire, from the trials and tribulations of life and death and from the evil affliction of Al-Maseeh Ad-Dajjal (the Antichrist).WHERE IS THE DAJJAL?
Amir b. Sharahil Sha’bi Sha’b Hamdan reported that he asked Fatima, daughter of Qais and sister of ad-Dahhak b. Qais and she was the first amongst the emigrant women: Narrate to me a hadith which you had heard directly from Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) and there is no extra link in between them. I heard the voice of an announcer making an announcement that the prayer would be observed in the mosque (where) congregational prayer (is observed). So I set out towards that mosque and observed prayer along with Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) and I was in the row of the women which was near the row of men. When Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) had finished his prayer, he sat on the pulpit smiling and said: Every worshipper should keep sitting at his place. He then said: Do you know why I had asked you to assemble? They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: By Allah. I have not made you assemble for exhortation or for a warning, but I have detained you here, for Tamim Dari, a Christian, who came and accepted Islam, told me something, which agrees with what I was-telling, yuu about the Dajjal. He narrated to me that he had sailed in a ship along with thirty men of Bani Lakhm and Bani Judham and had been tossed by waves in the ocean for a month. Then these (waves) took them (near) the land within the ocean (island) at the time of sunset. They sat in a small side-boat and entered that Island. There was a beast with long thick hair (and because of these) they could not distinguish his face from his back. They said: Woe to you, who can you be? Thereupon it said: I am al-Jassasa. They said: What is al-Jassasa? And it said: O people, go to this person in the monastery as he is very much eager to know about you. He (the narrator) said: When it named a person for us we were afraid of it lest it should be a Devil. Then we hurriedly went on till we came to that monastery and found a well-built person there with his hands tied to his neck and having iron shackles between his two legs up to the ankles. We said: Woe be upon thee, who are you? And he said: You would soon come to know about me. but tell me who are you. We said: We are people from Arabia and we embarked upon a boat but the sea-waves had been driving us for one month and they brought as near this island. We got Into the side-boats and entered this island and here a beast met us with profusely thick hair and because of the thickness of his hair his face could not be distinguished from his back. We said: Woe be to thee, who are you? It said: I am al- Jassasa. We said: What is al-Jassasa? And it said: You go to this very person in the monastery for he is eagerly waiting for you to know about you. So we came to you in hot haste fearing that that might be the Devil. He (that chained person) said: Tell me about the date-palm trees of Baisan. We &aid: About what aspect of theirs do you seek information? He said: I ask you whether these trees bear fruit or not. We said: Yes Thereupon he said: I think these would not bear fruits. He said: Inform me about the lake of Tabariyya? We said: Which aspect of it do you want to know? He said: Is there water in it? They said: There is abundance of water in it. Thereupon he said: I think it would soon become dry. He again said: Inform me about the spring of Zughar. They said: Which aspect of it you want to know? He (the chained person) said: Is there water in it and does it irrigate (the land)? We said to him: Yes, there is abundance of water in it and the inhabitants (of Medina) irrigate (land) with the help of it, He said: Inform me about the unlettered Prophet; what has he done? We said: He has come out from Mecca and has settled In Yathrib (Medina). He said: Do the Arabs fight against him? We said: Yes. He said: How did he deal with him? We informed him that he had overcome those in his neighbourhood and they had submitted themselves before him. Thereupon he said to us: Had it actually happened? We said: Yes. Thereupon he said: If it is so that is better for them that they should show obedience to him. I am going to tell you about. myself and I am Dajjal and would be soon permitted to get out and so I shall get out and travel in the land, and will not spare any town where I would not stay for forty nights except Mecca and Medina as these two (places) are prohibited (areas) for me and I would not make an attempt to enter any one of these two. An angel with a sword in his hand would confront me and would bar my way and there would be angels to guard every passage leading to it; then Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) striking the pulpit with the help of the end of his staff said: This implies Taiba meaning Medina. Have I not, told you an account (of the Dajjal) like this? ‘The people said: Yes, and this account narrated by Tamim Dari was liked by me for it corroborates the account which I gave to you in regard to him (Dajjal) at Medina and Mecca. Behold he (Dajjal) is in the Syrian sea (Mediterranian) or the Yemen sea (Arabian sea). Nay, on the contrary, he As In the east, he is in the east, he is in the east, and he pointed with his hand towards the east. I (Fatima bint Qais) said: I preserved It In my mind (this narration from Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him). It should be matter for reflection that this description of Dajjal’s physical person made no mention of him being blind in one eye.] [“Note” We donot know how many beasts with long thick hair was on that island, that because of the hair they could not distinguish his face from his back.]

there are 30 Dajjals some Significance and other insignificance, the ones in Positions of Power are Significance.they are all over the world, but most of them are in the U.S. and most of them that are in the U.S. are Mix with the Muslims tring to Hide. there are two Significance ones among the Muslims in Houston,Tx,one of them is in the ALmeda Masjid, this one! is the one that is well- built and who was chained up with his hands chained to his neck and having iron shackles between his two legs up to the ankles. and the other is in Madrasah Islamiah, And this one is,the one that has one eye and the other eye looked like a floating grape, both of them are african and can be proven that they are DAJJAL! if they are ordinary people then they will not have any trouble with Surah kahf! We know that Surah kahf is a protection for the muslims, and the first 10 ayats should be read as a protection! they Love the company of the wicked and corrupt people! These Kafri are the Enemies Of ALLAH! There is No Doubt!

the Truth of the matter is that the followers of the Dajjal is in every masjid in the muslim world and among every people, they have had time to mix with every People in the world, and there Job is to deceives every Believers muslim and all people, Dajjal will throw in front of the followers of Rasulallah(sallallahu alaihi wassalam) all the doubts against Islam, one cannot be resisted him with physical power but can be resisted with spiritual power,True faith, and Devotion to ALLAH alone! that is, by proving faith principles with definite proofs. Confused people will require strong proofs so that they can be protected from those doubts. It can only be achieved through strong evidence. Dajjal will not refrain from coercion, tyranny and giving annoyance to make people accept his irreligious ideas. To be able to resist those things one needs to be equipped with strong faith in the word of ALLAH the Qur’an and faith in the Sunnah of Rasulallah( sallallahu alaihi was salam). Seeing that in the end of time, there is great indifference to islam and to the Sunnah of Rasulallah( sallallahu alaihi was salam) The important thing is to be able to resist Dajjal with faith and thought. Dajjal sees everything materially, he does not accept the existence, the oneness of Allah and his sovereignty and possession of everything from the Heavens to the Earth. and the Dajjal presents himself as divine. Dajjal will not be able to have any authority over the peoples who denies him as divine and says, “Our Rabb is Allah. We trust in him and we seek his help against the Dajjal . From your evil, we seek Protection in Allah. The believer should do everything he/she can to struggle against him. The believer should never condone his evils. If there is nothing he can do, he is obliged to turn away from it. The believer should not keep silent and refrain from telling the truth lest Dajjal should harm him. the Believer should never abandoning the struggle against Dajjal. to be in favor of Dajjal would, no doubt, summon more serious disasters. Even if the worldly life of the person prospers, (her) his Hereafter life will collapse. Even in this worldly life, the troubles and calamities will not Stop. If there is widespread support for Dajjal in a place, there is an invitation for the Angry and Punishment of ALLAH, calamities like hunger, famine or earthquake. As can be seen, the struggle against Dajjal is not easy. The influence of Dajjal is great and his despotism is fierce; and he will try to silence those who dare to struggle against him. The believer should not lose the sense of struggle and strive as much as he can. He should turn away from the Evil, and turn his heart toward ALLAH!the Believer should not approach the Dajjal or his Evil, but stay away from his mischief. The advice of the Rasulallah(sallallahu alaihi was salam)regarding the issue is as follows:“When you hear the emergence of Dajjal, stay away from him because one goes to him with the intention of refusing him but becomes a subject because he gives apprehension to the hearts and deceives and doubts them.” Another narration is as follows:
“When you hear the emergence of Dajjal, do not approach him as much as possible. A person goes to him thinking that Dajjal is a believer, stays with him for a while and falls into his trap with his doubts. Approaching Dajjal in this context is not just approaching his body but also his cause which causes confusion in the minds and hearts. A Hadith advises us to prefer staying at home so as not to be infected with the appealing mischief of Dajjal. Rasulallah(salallahu alaihi was salam) informs us that before the doomsday there will be mischief like pieces of night time; one will reach the morning as a believer but become an unbeliever by the night time and many people will sell their religion for a piece of worldly benefit. The Sahaba asked him, “What should we do when we reach such a time?” The Rasulallah(sallallhu alaihi was salam) said, “Do not become infected by leaving your homes. The point is not to fall into his trap, to know Dajjal well so as not to be seized by his appealing mischief and carry out the struggle that one should.
Unfortunately, people who do not know Dajjal well can have wrong opinions and fall into his trap because of negligence and ignorance. The famous Dajjal can hunt those people down easily because he adopts methods like deception, fraud, and hypocrisy. Dajjal is an Disbeliever; he will start a war against Islam and will attack in every chance he gets. There is no need to say that people who know those things and follow him nevertheless will risk themselves. Even their deeds will not be useful for them. As Rasulallah(salallahu alaihi was salam) says for the people who submit to Dajjal “none of their good acts will be of any use. Rasulallah(salallahu alaihi was salam) says “Certainly, I am warning you against Dajjal. There is no prophet who has not warned his people against him. Likewise, Noah (pbuh) had also warned his people against Dajjal.
The greater the danger, the more protection necessary. Accordingly, there are warnings and preventive measures. As it can be seen above, Rasulallah(salallahu alaihi was salam)has made the necessary warnings against that big danger.
Because of those warnings, the Sahaba had expected Dajjal as a big calamity in a nearby place and a near time and they had prepared against him accordingly.
Nawwas bin Sam’an explains how Rasulallah(salallahu alaihi was salam)expressed that mischief:
“Rasulallah(salallahu alaihi was salam)explained Dajjal one morning. He lowered Dajjal so much and emphasized (his mischief) so much that we thought he was in that date garden (in person).”
Seeking refuge in Allah from the mischief of Dajjal, Rasulallah(salallahu alaihi was salam) had taught them this prayer that he often repeated himself: “I seek refuge in You from the mischief of Dajjal”.(17) Rasulallah(sallallahu alaihi was salam) explained Dajjal one morning. He lowered Dajjal so much and emphasized (his mischief) so much that we thought he was in that date garden (in person).Seeking refuge in Allah from the mischief of Dajjal, Rasulallah(sallallahu alaihi was salam)he had taught them this prayer that he often repeated himself: “I seek refuge in You from the mischief of Dajjal. In addition, after finishing the final tashahhud of the prayer (salat) he advised us to seek refuge in Allah from the following four things: the Hell torment, the grave torment, the mischief of life and death and the evil of Masihu’d Dajjal.Including those Sunnah prayers in his principles of methods, also mentioned avoiding the mischief of Dajjal in the prayers he made after morning (fajr) and evening (maghrib) prayers:
O Allah! I seek Your protection from the torture of hell, and I seek Your protection from the torture of the grave, and I seek refuge with You from the mischief of life and death, and I seek Your protection from the mischief of Dajjal pretending as Messiah.
[Sahih al-Bukhari 2:102, Muslim 1:412, 588] 2. Memorising certain Ayat from Surat al-Kahf. Al-Hafiz al-Dhahabi said, “Seeking refuge with Allah from the Dajjal is mentioned in many Mutawatir Ahadith (those with numerous lines of narrators). One way of doing this is to memorise ten Ayat from Surat al-Kahf.” Abul-Dira reported that Rasulallah(sallallahu alaihi was salam) said, “Whoever memorises the first ten Ayat of Surat al-Kahf will be protected from the Dajjal.” (Abu Dawud)
    3. Keeping away from the Dajjal One way to be protected from the tribulation of the Dajjal is to live in Madina or Makkah. Abu Hurayrah reported that Rasulallah(sallallahu alaihi was salam) said, “There are angels standing at the gates of Madina; neither plague nor the Dajjal can enter it.” (al-Bukhari, Muslim.) Abu Bakr reported that Rasulallah(sallallahu alaihi was salam)said, “The terror caused by the Dajjal will not enter Madina. At that time it will have seven gates; there will be two angels guarding every gate.” (al-Bukhari) Anas said, “Rasulallah(sallallahu alaihi was salam) said, ‘The Dajjal will come to Madina, and he will find angles guarding it. Neither plague nor the Dajjal will enter it, inshallah.’ ” (at-Tirmidhi, al-Bukhari)It has been proven in the Saheeh Hadith that the Dajjal will not enter Makkah or Madina, because the angels will prevent him from entering these two places which are sanctuaries and are safe from him. When he camps at the salt-marsh (Sabkhah) of Madina, it will be shaken by three tremors – either physically or metaphorically – and every hypocrite will go out to join the Dajjal. On that day, Madina will be cleansed of its dross and will be refined and purified; and Allah knows best. Rasulallah(sallallahu alaihi was salam) also advises reading the first 10 verses of the Chapter al-Kahf to avoid the mischief of Dajjal.“Among his mischief is that he has a heaven and a hell by his side. However, his hell is Heaven and his heaven is Hell. Whoever is tested with his fire should ask for help from Allah and read the first 10 verses of the Chapter al-Kahf. Then, his fire will give coolness and peace as it happened to Abraham.
In addition, apart from the narration for protection from the evil of Dajjal, there are narrations that say, “One who reads the Chapter al-Kahf will be protected from the mischief of Dajjal“one who reads the last 10 verses and “one who memorizes the first ten verses will be protected.
What is the Divine Wisdom in the reading that chapter (surah)?
In that chapter, ALLAH, the Almighty, is introduced with His personality and attributes and it is explained how, with His help, Ashab-u Kahf were rescued from the evil of the ruler of the time, Dakyanus. One can be protected from the evil of Dajjal with the help of ALLAH. That chapter gives the believers that security and Protection. An important wisdom of the fact that that chapter has been read in Masjids every Friday since the time of the Rasulallah(sallallahu alaihi was salam) , And is a Protection with Allah’s words til the day of Judgment, from the evil of The Dajjal. When Muhammed al-Hejazi (d. 1625) evaluates the advice of reading the Chapter al-Kahf for the protection from the mischief of Dajjal, he says that Dajjal can only be resisted with the Words of ALLAH(the Qur’an and the Sunnah of Rasulallah(sallallahu alaihi was salam) . He explains the secret as:One who is strong against Dajjal is strong only with theWords of ALLAH (Qur’an and Sunnah of Rasulallah(sallallahu alaihi was salam). The tricks, doubts and apprehensions of Dajjal cannot influence, in any way, a person who has the Qur’an and Sunnah in his heart, and who Truely Love Islam(the Deen of ALLAH)who fills his heart and Soul with its sacred truths and practices .
You have too have a True Love for ALLAH!, His Rasulallah(sallallahu alaihi was salam)!,and His Deen!(ISLAM)!!!

The Dajjal is described as being the Great Deceiver who will have miraculous powers and who will temporarily hold power over the whole earth:

    <!– .hmmessage P { margin:0px; padding:0px } body.hmmessage { font-size: 12pt; font-family:Calibri } –>
when there is an entire evil society, that on the surface this society appear to be good! But in reality below the surface it is the most wicked, cruel and brutal of societies, and the world has begun to see it as it is.But the truth of the matter is that this wickedness was never really hidden, they were wicked and cruel from the very beginning, [It is clear that before Dajjal the individual appears on earth, there must already be present and established the system, and the people running that system,THESE ARE THE PEOPLE OF THE SECRET SOCIETIES,THE SECRET UNDERGROUND WORLD, which and who will support and follow him when he does appear. These are same Evil Secret Societies that started this American society. These followers of the dajjal will bear all the characteristics of Dajjal & his arrival would be the final embodiment. The One Eye is one of the ways to recognize Dajjal. This symbol of Masons, the very core of their believes is also referred to as the Supreme Being or the Great Architect of the Universe.
This DAJJAL-system, will be the most evil and most corrupt satanic force in history. this wicked system shall promote mass immorality (Homosexuality, Adultery, Fornication), Atheism, Devil-worship, use of USURY, Intoxication (Alcohol & Drug abuse), Crime, Injustice, Oppression, Fitnah of the Pen (Pornographic magazines etc.), cause wars, Famine, Massacres, Rape and suffering on an immeasurable scale. The people working for the promotion of this Dajjal-system are known as Free Masons. the public hardly know anything about them. Freemasons secretly worship a Devil-God, Dajjal!. Historically the control & manipulation of political opinion and corrupting the language has been the Freemasons main weapon in gaining control of countries and states. Once in control of the rulers and politicians of the country, laws and political structures could be changed in accordance with their agenda. However Since restricting the body does not necessarily mean restricting the mind, the Freemason recognizes that their plan for global government(new world order ) hinges completely on subduing the masses to accept their agenda & thus eliminating opposition to their cause. Islam is the greatest threat to their plan causing more danger than any army or law, that is the threat of the the knowledgeable true believing muslim, The Believing Muslim with true knowledge of the Din. In order to eliminate this threat & to achieve their objectives the Masons have set about the boldest plan ever devised. The complete control of every aspect of human life, your life in the west and in the world. & the weapons they are using against us are in your very homes, The T.V. entertaining you and your children, and gradually indoctrinating us to accept immorality (Homosexuality, Adultery,Fornication), Atheism, Devil-worship, Crime, Injustice, Oppression, without us ever realizing it. One of the basic tactics being used by Masons to bring about a One-world govt. is through the movies. It should be kept in mind that Freemasonry’s goal is world dominance through the control of the human condition by the power of Satan (illuminati). From the shadows of darkedness they have engineered every major war, revolution and recession. They control everything you read, everything you hear and everything you see. They have managed to indoctrinate an entire populace to their way of thinking and have infiltrated key positions in places of authority and it is from the shadows they have created a new political order, a new economic order and most sinister a new religious order. theses masonic kafirs are among the muslims people, many of these masonic kafirs are in leadership position over the muslims people, any Muslim who joins a Masonic group, knows the true nature of Freemasonry and its secrets, and carries out its rituals and is keen to do so is a Kafir (disbeliever), It is not enough for these masonic kafirs to prevail over the (religious people)the Muslim people

and our places of worship, rather their basic goal is to wipe them out of existence.” They the Freemasonry also say, “they will replace religion and its Lodges will replace the places of worship …” There are many other statements that reveal their adamant enmity and uncompromising war against Islam and religions. The greatest Masonic leaders are Jews who form the backbone of the Masonic movement and system. (Evidence of this evil system, and the people running that system,is the evidence of Dajjal as a world wide social and cultural phenomenon, and Dajjal as an unseen force( the dajjal the unseen force is a giant devil that will enter the Homes of many people with weak faith and will control and dominate them and some he will take over and possess. The signs of these broader aspects of Dajjal, that is what Dajjal the individual will epitomise, are very apparent today, which would indicate that Dajjal the individual is soon to appear . (These satanic forces, these fakes, these ponies, these hipocritas and these kafari in this city of houston,tx. have also call up the Biggest devils- from the voodoo world of the seen and the unseen forces of the dajjal). Considering Dajjal as an unseen force, the presence of this force is indicated by Giant devils who take possession of human beings in the same way as the jinn sometime possess humans and animals. It is the unseen force of the dajjal that is behind many evils that is in the society and in the world.

The Dajjal is described as being a deceiver who will have miraculous powers or Miraculous tricks and who will temporarily hold power over the whole earth:

The Prophet was warning us the Muslims that in the last days there would be someone who would deceive all of humanity. The Dajjal will possess power over this world. Thus, Muslims must be careful not to have the love of the world in their hearts so they won’t leave their religion and follow him. He will be able to heal the sick by wiping his hand on them, like Jesus did, but with this deceit the Dajjal will lead people down the path to hell. Thus the Dajjal is the false Messiah, or Anti-Christ (Massih ad-Dajjal). He will pretend to be the Messiah, and deceive people by showing them amazing powerful tricks. 1

    The Dajjal will have powers of the devil(satan). He will terrorize the Muslims with his unseen forces into following him, converting them into unbelief. He will conceal the truth and bring forth falsehood. The prophet said that the Dajjal will have the power to show the image of one’s dead ancestors on his hand,he will command devils to take on the image of dead people,of dead ancestors,of dead Love ones,these images of people will try to appeal to the living people,that they should follow the dajjal.some of theses images of dead people will appear to be the parents or the relatives of some people and others will be the images of so call great or famous people, But all will be no more then devil who have taked on the image of dead people. “The image of the dead relative will say, “Oh my son! This man is correct. I am in Paradise because I was good and I believed in him.” In reality that relative is in hell. If the relative says, “Believe in this man, I am in hell because I didn’t believe,” one must say to the Dajjal, “No, he is in Paradise. This is false.”{the way To destroy these false images, these devils are to recite Ayatul-Kursi, If the muslim, If the person continue to recite Ayatul-kursi these devils will not be able to continue to present themselves as human being, the image will fade.}

The Prophet said: the Dajjal will say to a Bedouin Arab, “what will you think if I bring your father and mother back to life for you? Will you bear witness that I am your lord? The Bedouin will say, “Yes.” So two devils will assume the appearance of his father and mother, and say, “O my son, follow him for he is your lord…” 7 Dajjall will be to approach anyone and ask him: “If I bring your camel back to life, will you then believe that I am your Rabb?”
This person will reply, “Most certainly.”
Thereafter Shaytaan (from the many Shayateen who will always accompany Dajjal) will appear before this person in the form of his camel with a fat hump and fully laden udders.
Likewise Dajjal will appear before another person whose father and brother have long passed away and ask him, “If I bring your father and brother back to life will you believe that I am your Rabb?”
This person will reply, “Why not?”
Shaytaan will once again take on the appearance of his brother and father… The Darkness is growing and the Evil influence of the dajjal(Anti-Christ) is spreading , If you still have any doubt regarding him then remember that your Sustainer (Rabb) is not one-eyed.Think about The Dramatic changes that have taken place in the world on this earth in the last year or so, then you will know!.So we should turn back towards the obedience of Allah Wholeheartedly and obeying the commands of ALLAH the holy Quran and the Sunnah of Rasulallah(sallallahu alaihi wassalam), to abolish the evil, and to revive the Sunnah by living it.” “Remember that(Anti-Christ) the dajjal is the Enemy of ALLAH! there is no Doubt. The Antichrist is short, hen-toed, woolly-haired,curly hair and blind in one eye. His eye looked like a protruding out grape.this Description seem to describe a person of Africa Origin, and this is the description of the chief dajjal(Anti-Christ), he was taken off that island, where he had been in prison for thousands of years,Some where in the last 700 years and taken to africa, where he did not have to hide, not just because he was dark in color, but because he found the majority of the muslims societies had stepped back into the darkness of ignorance and superstition.they had started to practice voodoo, black magic and sorcery, during the crusades and during colonialism. so it was easy for him to be inconspicuous and comfortable in a corrupt environment among the evil and wicked people of religion! Just like right now at the present time, he’s living in america inconspicuous walking in and out of the masjids, and the muslims people see him and not saying anything,

Have faith in Allah and doing good deeds that includes all goodness small or big, this includes mercy and helping humans, animals and plants it also includes not to use excess of anything one needs, why we have more poor than rich, because we spend more on ourselves than others and we spend more and more, now for spending we need more money instantly or yes some of us can wait for a life but Alas the time would be too little to spend on the shaky bones. Islam is the only practical way of life if we could ever understand, ever…….

  189. I have appreciated and admired Imran Khan ever since he started to show the signs of “Reform” in his person and his approach that he talks about in this article. I do want him to be the ruler of our country because he seems to be the most fit among the ones that are willing to lead. However, we as a nation, must realize that sustainable “change” does not come from top down but it comes from bottom up. The true sustainable change would come into our nation with a grass roots movement. For that we would all have to be the change that we want to visualize.

  190. Beautiful article indeed, I am with you in eliminating corruption and social injustice from our society

  191. Thank you Imran Khan for waking us up.
